The Crime of Disobedience

Continuing with the theme of Sonship, as my friend, Jasmin, aptly reminded me, being disinherited is a reality when we, as children of God, ignore his requirements.

Right now, in the western world, we have many privileges. Even as you read this, you have the privilege of sitting at an electronic screen, most likely comfortable, most likely well fed, or about to be. Take a moment to admire God for all of this. Look around, see what he’s given you. Search your memory. Be specific with thanking him for all he’s done for you specifically. It only takes a few seconds to remember, but some of those blessings last a lifetime, don’t they?

Any miracles in those memories? Some of them have made you smile. God is good.

Now, imagine it’s all gone. You don’t have the assurance of good times to come anymore. No protection, no deliverance, no provision. You’re on your own to fend for yourself for the rest of your life.

That’s what being disinherited will get you.

Let’s start at the beginning: God created the heavens and the earth. He created everything to produce. He spoke forth the fish and the animals and every living creature, and he commanded them to be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth. When God created man he created him to have dominion over all other creations. He commanded him to be fruitful and multiply, replenish the earth and subdue it.

Here, man received two amazing blessings: the spiritual-life inheritance, and the physical inheritance of the dominion of the earth. However, these were lost because the father/son bond had been corrupted by the introduction of sin into man’s conscience. This occurrence instigated all the generations of mankind to be disinherited from a legal claim.

The title of this piece is The Crime of Disobedience, and a crime is defined as a breach or violation against an instituted law. God’s spiritual law was defiled, (the introduction of sin into man’s conscience), and, because the spiritual dictates the natural world, both were consequently withdrawn from man. The soul of man, an emotional field, became trapped, following the strongest desire which was predominately natural.

God created man to worship him, but because of the breach, man inevitably started abusing the relationship of a heavenly Father. Man lives in the natural, but has no control over it, seeing with natural eyes instead of the revelatory spiritual, which is the true life. Not a life of spirituality, directed by “the powers that be,” but as dictated by the Spirit of God.

This Spirit-deprived man came about because of disobedience of God’s law. The crime founded the loss of relationship, and disinheritance from all that God’s benefits provide.

James 1:14-18 says; Every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. This is what happened to Adam during his fall.

[15] Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. This is the spiritual death man experienced, causing God to disown his sons. Even when Jesus was on the cross, the Father turned his back, disowning him because of the sin he represented. Can you imagine your father looking you in the eye and saying, “You are dead to me. I disown you,” and then turning his back?

[16] Do not err, my beloved brethren. In other words, don’t think that God will tempt you to lust after something that will bring about sin and death and separation. The reason being that…

[17] Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. His plan was and still is to have reconciliation with his sons. He wants to give us the authority again to operate in his inheritance. How do we know this? Because…

[18] Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures. This is God reaching out and setting the foundation for mankind to return to him and reclaim the inheritance and all its benefits.

The spiritual inheritance comes about only through the Holy Spirit, who is the binding link in the Father/son relationship (Romans 8). As a result, we have positional rights as sons to approach the Father with any request, fortified with the power of the Holy Spirit, as a result of the key name of the second Adam, Jesus Christ. We have the power of once again being sons with full access and authority. Why settle for half when he is offering all?

There is so much more I’d love to share with you. Keep up to date next month as we continue on the topic, The Crime of Disobedience.

–Disobedience has caused many Kingdom sons to be unfruitful in that we fail to make the pregnancies needed to multiply. —
